Extra information, ideas and practical tips related to this itinerary.

Why Choose an 8-Night Stay in Singapore?

For Indian travellers seeking a comprehensive experience of Singapore beyond quick visits, spending over a week in this vibrant city-state offers a deep dive into its rich modernity and cultural tapestry. An 8-night stay allows you to explore diverse neighbourhoods, savour local flavours, and enjoy both iconic attractions and hidden gems without rush. Whether you're a family, solo traveller, or group of friends, this extended trip offers the perfect blend of urban excitement and tranquil retreats.

Top Experiences and Highlights in Singapore

Singapore’s compact size belies the variety of experiences it offers. Here are some grouped highlights to help plan your exploration:

  • Iconic Urban Marvels: Visit Marina Bay Sands for panoramic city views and the dazzling nightly light show. Wander through Gardens by the Bay to witness futuristic supertrees and the climate-controlled Flower Dome.
  • Cultural Corners: Explore Chinatown's bustling streets and heritage centres, Little India’s vibrant markets and temples, and Kampong Glam’s Malay history and street art. These districts offer rich insights into Singapore’s multicultural identity.
  • Nature and Wildlife: Take a leisurely stroll or boat ride at the Singapore Botanic Gardens, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Visit the award-winning Singapore Zoo or Night Safari for unforgettable wildlife encounters.
  • Shopping and Entertainment: Experience Orchard Road’s extensive malls, or discover indie boutiques in Haji Lane. For nightlife, Clarke Quay offers riverside dining and lively bars.
  • Local Flavours: Don't miss hawker centres like Maxwell Food Centre and Lau Pa Sat to savour affordable and authentic hawker meals such as Hainanese chicken rice, chilli crab, and laksa.

Best Time to Visit and Weather Tips

Singapore's tropical climate means it is warm and humid year-round, averaging 26-32°C. The city experiences frequent but brief showers, especially during the monsoon seasons. The best time to visit is generally between February and April when rainfall is lighter and humidity slightly lower, making outdoor exploration more enjoyable. However, Singapore’s efficient indoor attractions and covered walkways ensure a comfortable visit even during wetter months.

Pack light, breathable clothing, and always carry a compact umbrella or raincoat. Sunglasses and sunscreen are essential as the equatorial sun can be intense.

Practical Tips for Indian Travellers

  • Visa and Entry: Indian passport holders require a valid visa to enter Singapore. It's advisable to apply well in advance through the official channels or trusted travel agencies.
  • Local Transport: Singapore’s public transport system is clean, safe, and efficient. The MRT (Mass Rapid Transit) connects major attractions and neighbourhoods. Grab app-based taxis are widely used and offer convenience.
  • Food Culture: Singapore is a food lover’s paradise with diverse Indian, Chinese, Malay, and fusion cuisines. Hawker centres provide delicious, budget-friendly options, while city restaurants offer global fine dining.
  • Cultural Etiquette: Respect for cultural diversity is fundamental. Dress modestly when visiting religious sites and follow local regulations such as no smoking in public places and no littering.
  • Packing Essentials: Comfortable walking shoes, light clothing, waterproof items for sudden showers, and adapters for charging electronics. Also carry any necessary medications and a reusable water bottle.
